Thanks.

I agree with Mark. I use this app to make LOTS of drawings for work, but I need some way to make folders so I can better organize them rather than one screen of drawings to scroll through.

Thanks,

Rudy

I also would adore having folders. This is my favorite app to date as my education courses require concept maps per chapters. Folders would help me keep the maps separated for each class.

Thank you for this incredible tool. Time and LIFE saver!

The ability to import an image into the canvas would add to the profesionalism of the finished work.
Also being able to import an image or icon into an object connects ideas.

Just create an image with your logo and then choose the image as your canvas. It takes a few tries to get the right size, but it works perfectly for me.

Choosing an image as canvas is not sufficient. Importing multiple images, positioning and scaling them across the canvas, so that they can be used as part of the diagram - that would really complete this app...

Love the app. Can I request a full-screen view without the top-and-bottom toolbars, please? Also, ability to lock text to lines, so that it moves with the lines as they move. Also, is it possible for rotation to have a snap to 90 degrees option? I keep accidentally rotating things a smidgeon when resizing. Ability to stretch shape of objects would be handy, and finally ability to export in formats that others can edit (e.g. Word drawing format). Great app that makes planning a breeze.

The ability to share the work done in this application in Word documents and be able to edit from a desktop is an important feature requirement. I would like to buy this app but without this functionality I have to look to others. Other standard formats for support would be a bonus but this one has the greatest return on investment. Those objects that cannot be directly ported could be transferred as simple graphics (png).

I make a diagram on my iPad. I email it from iDesk to myself or colleagues in a corporate Microsft environment.

Because it is attached as an image and an .idd file (both unrecognised formats), the corporate firewall blocks it. Once it is retrieved to my inbox, the attchment is recognised only as an "image file of unknown format" -- ie the system doesn't know it's a .png. File has to be saved, renamed and then "Open-withed" before it can be used.

I find this frustrating, my colleagues either can't manage to open it or can't be bothered.

+6 # even more elasticity?Cbnel 2011-05-25 02:15
IpThis app is already a major home run for me.. Fluid, intuitve, and yet robust. Will youse it lots.

here's what I am already lusting for in future revs.. The ability to select any object and resize it dynamically on the fly with a handle or similar. if this dynamic elasticity could apply not only to shapes but to the text inside, it would be a triple home run to me.

lacking that, just resizing shapes would be wonderful, especially if you could also (separetly) select any text and resize it manually with a tap on the alpha button.

Speaking of the alpha mode, one more piece of elasticity I would love: a slider to up and downsize the font size in lieu of the current steps by arrow thing.

Thanks for listening (and for asking) -- again adore this app!

+13 # Improvement suggestionsBjorn 2011-06-29 19:27
Great Program for what it was intended. To break into a broader market and also improve, I suggest the following:
1) gmail docs compatibility
2) pictures, to include masking
3) gradients.
4) addition of custom colors and gradient styles
5) cut/copy/paste to copy between objects
6) text positioning inside of objects, like squares.
7) handles on lines for better control of length and position of end points
8) layers
9) save and import shapes for reusability of complex objects, so you don't have to recreate them over and over and not work between multiple files/pages
10) add handles into any shape and the be able to move that handle in order to create more complicated objects. For example adding a handle into the middle of a line in order to be able to curve the line or add an angle into the line
11) add an angle curve tool that can be used on item #10 to create a curved line.
12) group multiple objects, not just selecting them.

+9 # A few more thoughtsBjorn 2011-07-03 08:13
Now that I am using the tool a little more I have a few more thoughts. first, I love this product, but it has a few shortcomings. For example:
1) when drawing rectangles, when they aren't done just right, I find myself doing them over and over to make them with 90 degree. Corners. Often they turn out With odd angles.
2) when clustering objects with snap to grid, the grid that objects snap to is inconsistent in spacing. Inevitably when moving the page around you slightly change the zoom level. Even when choosing say 100 percent zoom, the snap to grid is different and you get inconsistent results when trying to lineup a lot of boxes the same size.
3) I would recommend a home szoom button to ensure a place where snap to stays consistent when moving across the page. I know this can be difficult for vector objects.
Thanks for listening to me.

+19 # Advanced ResizingMIcah 2011-07-06 16:39
It's great how easy it is to resize, but it appears that it only allows scaling, not proportional changes.

It would be nice when pinch-sizing, adjustments right/left would make the object wider, top/bottom would be taller, and diagonal would scale with same proportions.

Perhaps couple this with a toggle box on the toolbar to switch between straight scaling and proportional adjustments would be best.

+3 # Feature Request - iDesk 2.0Steve 2011-09-04 15:07
Wrote my review. iDesk 2.0 is awesome! I am finding myself using it to replace my mindmap app too!

Few things to make it even better:
1. Persistent Style Preference: Currently, all styles, background, color are set to DEFAULT style. Even thou I had my preferred styles globally set at the beginning of the document, the preference revert to the default (i.e. line thickness, background, font etc..).

2. Default Style setting (at application level as well at document level)

3. Dropbox integration

4. Selective "multiple" selection. This allows me to select discrete shapes and move them. Current selection method is good, but this makes it better.

+2 # Feature Request - iDesk 2.0 (cont.)Steve 2011-09-04 15:08
5. Resize handler. Smaller objects can be sized this way without zooming in and size with two fingers.

6. Quick move in "pen mode". Currently If I place my finger on a object in "pen mode", it draws the line as I drag. It would be good if the app can see this as a move "gesture". This will speed up moving in "pen mode" without have to "tap" to select and move.

Thanks. Keep up the good work. I love it!

Features request:

1. Add PDF output and make text selectable in PDF.

2. Allow users to output only the selected region instead of outputting the entire canvas.

3. When double tapping on canvas, it creates a text, but the text can only have rectangle stroke, it's much better if user can choose different shapes for text's stroke, e.g. Eclipse Triangle.

4. iDesk got iPhone and iPad versions already, it'll be awesome if there are PC and Mac versions.

5. Add support to iCloud.

I'll give u 5 stars if these features can be done.

Keep going on ur great work

Would love to have the ability to add common shapes via selection and or the ability to fine tune the ones that are draw by hand with drag points. Ability to add stencil packs would be great. Example computer network stencils or home and garden stencils, built in or ability to load your own png type would be great. If you all end up adding folders would love to have them look like photo stacks thats a wish  . Wonder full app…I love it. One of those wow this is on my phone apps.

Awesome software, loved it.

It will be really awesome if one can edit the connections, meaning the path it takes. I am having difficulty in getting the arrows around other objects. The four basic types is not so flexible

Grouping objects together will also be a great functionality

It would be great to have a way to have the automatic form correction (circles and squares) in a mixture of round and straight lines, since I am terrible in drawing. My idea is to draw a square with a roundy side... but manually the presentation is not so good...

+1 # Composite objectsJeremy Double 2011-11-02 09:59
It would be really useful to have a few things to make the creation of composite objects easier. A type of diagram I use a lot has a box made of three rectangles arranged into a single rectangular shape. I am finding it very difficult to draw this shape in the current version of the app, because I can't get the rectangles to meet up neatly. Also, the shape recognition tends to recognise a nearly-square rectangle as a square, which is not always helpful.

So I would like:

1. A coarser "snap" grid, which remains consistent when zoomed, and to which the shape recognition snaps.
2. The ability to adjust the size of shapes in one direction at a time (e.g.. wider only or taller only).
3. The ability to group objects into a symbol. This was in MacDraw 25 years ago, so it's not rocket science.

Thanks!

I was able get something usefull out of this program but unfortunately I can only use it as a prototype to then rebuild in a desktop business application. IMO the biggest (only) reason I would covert from free to paid is if I could export in object level PowerPoint and Visio format.

Here are my observations from a usability perspective:
- Difficult to expand (pinch/zoom) small objects
- Need to be able convert a circle with text to a different shape
- Need to export object level editable file to PowerPoint and Visio
- Need library of pre-defined shapes
- Need full screen or Slideshow viewing option
- Need to be able to have multiple slides for a single presentation.
- Need a template library to include org chart, network diagram, etc
- The long touch gesture is awkward and slow to use for forward/back function which should be 4th corner object control.

Brilliant diagramming app, it's just the best!

I'd like to have the ability to change size of shapes, tune connection stroke style and width, tune size of connection ends.
As well, it'll be greate to have the possibility to save styles as templates. There a lot of place at bottom, especially if you replace 2 buttons at the bottom of the screen with one toggle button.

Thank you for excellent app!

Thank you for the hard work you put into this app. It's a great one!

My suggestion is the ability to make connections after the shapes are made with the text inside them and with the colours set.

I simply cannot create a bunch of empty shapes connect them and write what they represent in the end. My work flow is the complete opposite of that so it would be nice to have the freedom to and the connections whenever we fell it's the time to add them.

Thank you for the consideration :-)

+10 # Better snap to grid, object manipulation, more versatile connectionsDoug 2011-11-28 21:56
It would be much more efficient to use iDesk for complex flowcharts if objects could snap-to-parallel to another object, if that makes sense (aligned upon either horizontal, vertical, or diagonal axis).

I really wish I could make a rectangle wider OR taller, without having to do both proportionally.

Wish it were easier to have clean branch-off connections that go around other objects, instead of having to be behind them. I find myself positioning objects in awkward ways to make cleaner connections possible. I'd like to be able to insert joints.

Sincere apologies,
Our goal to constantly add new functionality and improve our product sometimes doesn't left us with enough time for testing. There are 2 problems in iDesk 2.1 that we fixed and we are waiting for the version to pass review.
1.Application freezes on double tap to add text in iOS 4.2

We promise not to do it again. We are going to test more next time :)

So, making these diagrams are great for documenting the flow of projects that I develop. But they can get rather big so I put in a "black box" which when I will type the LaTex the diagrams are easy to flow but when I create hm here they must be siz restricted.

It would be nice to put a link in one diagram that would have the title of the "linked to" and a ghost image of the other that fits within the area that I assign to it if I want.

For UML compatibility, the app needs to be able to assign rounded corners to a drawn box. UML differentiates between square-cornered boxes as objects, and rounded-corner boxes as actions. Adding this functionality to the stroke properties of a rectangular shape would make this app the ultimate UML workflow tool!

Instead of modifing global settings i would rather have some templates ( same settings, etc. stroke, fill…) which can be quick added. Maybe templates could be autogenerated from existing objects so that all objects of a template are even in shape and size.
Templates allows faster and much easier ceeation of more complex graphs.

+8 # DrBarry Clark 2012-01-05 23:41
I find I hard to draw squares and rectangles: they often come out as polygons. It would be great to have "shapes" on the horizontal slider (with connections, canvas etc) so that a pre-drawn shape could just be dropped on to a canvas (or you could select a hand drawn shape and then for example click the square, and the shape would change "automatically".

I wish I had found this app before I bought Omnigraffle!! :-)

Hi team,

I have a feature request: how about making the pen start from a point viewable. At the moment if I use my finger I can't actually see what I'm drawing as its under my finger. My suggestion: make a circle appear about one centermeter wide around where I place my finger and on that circle have a smaller circle to represent the pen tip, then this is where ink will come from. An edit mode would be good to rotate where the pen tip appears on the larger circle and also the size of the larger circle, incase the user wants to have a preferred location for the ink. I''m left handed so i would have the ink to come out on the right side of my finger...(hot idea?;-)

It'll be a great feature, which helps to bring the app to the corporate users. Especially for those who travels a lot.

And few ideas about this wish list (if TTapps wish it to be the real instrument to get customers opinions, ideas and feedback):
1. Add sorting by date and by popularity (number of "good comments").
2. Ideas already done should be removed from the list (with every new release).

I'd like multi sheet linked worksheets. my thought is a concept diagram or organizational chart that would allow you to go into a branch giving more detail on a subsection. for instance a university organizational diagram might have the President and college deans. linking from the dean could give a sub chart of the dean and department/department head - allowing a link down to a detailed department chart of professors, staff, and teaching assistants. At a large university this would be a very crowded document if it showed all the Liberal arts and science depatments intead of just one department at a time in detail

I'm using iDesk to do high level project dependencies, overall works pretty well, these couple extra features would really help.

1. Larger image exports, My diagram currently exports to 2048x814 and its just not enough detail to be readable. I have to use PDF for now. SVG output would be great.

2. Multi select, maybe hold a finger on a shape and tap others to add and subtract selections.

3. Shape grouping, to then allow for moving a whole group of shapes.

Thanks and keep up the good work,
Dan

Hi There!
Just downloaded your app on my iPad2. I like it!
Here's an idea for a possible add-on to the app: it would be nice to have a tool, which has predefined shapes (boxes, circles, etc.), which can be drag & dropped into the project.

Need some vector art dropdown liists, from wich you are able to add usuable shapes/boxes/art fast. Basic graphics should be free, then you should be able to create flow charts, Network diagrams!

More like visio but simpler!

Also à simple layer handling to includewould be nice....

+3 # Background and text formattingJudy 2012-02-23 02:04
A great app, and I love the functionality and look. The few things I would like to see differently, I can see, will be implemented in the next two updates. There are only two additional requests.

1) I would like to see text formatting in real time as you type. At the moment you have to guess how it will look and more often than not go back to change.

2) I would also like to see more background colour choices. Maybe the ability to choose a colour and a textur overlay. Another (or additional) way might be to use your own photo with the ability to tile it. At present a photo is static, and with am expanding canvass it will just end up in the top left corner looking rather forlorn.  With the ability to coordinate the background the app will be one of the most beautiful too.

Look forward to the next two updates. Thanks for listening.

+6 # More advanced ResizeYiannis 2012-02-28 17:48
I would like to be able to change the size of a rectunagle only on a specific side. Normally the resize takes place on all sides which is good but this additional option would be nice.

0 # "Tags" for ShapesDamien 2012-03-05 01:04
I use iDesk to draw organisation charts, it would be great to add multiple 'tags' to a shape that displays on the shape as a dot or coloured tag. I use this to tag people in the organisation that have common traits (i.e. they have completed a training program) a corresponding legend would be great where you can customise what each tag refers to and a count of how many objects (people) have that tag.. Useful in sooo many ways!!

To make your app the FIRST and ONLY in the appstore good to make INGOGRAPHICS simply add the possibility to add (or buy) FONTS so we can add symbolfonts or webdings. It will be a great thing.

+3 # Blurry textLuigi 2012-03-22 21:31
At least in the new Ipad, the letters appear very blurry. Would be much better if instead of converting the text to image, would maintain the text as an original source (like in any web page), or at least increase the image resolution.

+2 # Grid Spacing & Object AlignmentPeter 2012-03-24 07:45
Brilliant App, so intuitive!

I need to play with iDesk more to develop a comprehensive wish list, but what is apparent immediately, is a need to have the option to change the grid spacing, and to have the option to select a group of duplicate objects to automatically snap to the grid in alignment. I find the grid often too fine, and it is imprecise and inefficient to try to align duplicate objects manually one at a time.

Thanks.

Would be nice to be able to choose standard shapes for flow charts as what you would see with Vizio. Example. The shape for "documents" is common.

Circles & Squares are not enough.

Great App!

+1 # save custom settingsNathan 2012-04-06 20:57
Dreaming out loud here.... It would be handy if I could customize different sets of settings. This would enable me to create uniformly-themed documents without the limitations of template files.

For example, I would make "Class Notes" set:

Font -> Helvetica Neue, 18
Canvas Size -> iPad
Stroke -> dark grey, 2
Connection -> 30% arc

Of course, I can do this already by creating a template file and just copying it—but what if I want to swap between custom settings within the same document? For example, say I've been drawing my class notes up, using "Class Notes" setting above. Then I need a title. I select "Casual Title", which swaps the Font to KOMIKA AXIS, 50. Once I've typed my title in, I select "Class Notes" and get back to work.

+2 # card designsCmm 2012-04-08 22:19
I have been using the app to draw designs for layouts for handmade cards and scrapbook pages. It is the closest thing I have found so far to what I have needed, and I am really enjoying playing with it!

A few things would make it better. I would like a group function very much. For example. I made a button for a card design, a shaded circle with 2 black dots inside. While I could select all 3 elements to move the button, they don't stay "stuck" together, and once on my "card" can't be group selected again. I would like a way to stick them together as a group. Even more I would like the way to save an element like a button or flower shape so I could grab and place it on different diagrams. Finally I would like the choice to only widen or lengthen an object without it always being proportional.

0 # Group, vertice edit, multi tap selectBL5 2012-04-11 19:44
Very excellent app!

1. Would like to be able to edit the vertices of an auto recognized shape. Ie, draw a star & then edit the points to make it more (or less) symmetrical. Likewise should be able to edit the aspect ratio of a rectangle, etc.

2. When doing a multiple object selection, should be able to tap on the objects I wish to select. Much more precise than using a selection rectangle.

3. Would like to be able to do a multi select and then group those objects so they behave as one.

Keep up the great work!

+1 # auto sort diagram, pre defined shapesChu Wentao 2012-04-12 06:34
it would be much better to have auto sort function which could clean up diagrams. I enjoy idesk and am a freestyle diagram maker, but i want to display it with sense.
also pre defined shapes are better in quick drawing mode.
if possible, spread your app to android tablets(1280*800), PCs, Macs or even windows 8!

0 # Scaling on one of the axissarge 2012-05-03 17:28
This is absolutely a MUST!

I bought this software, but actually it is not usable for me without this very feature. I really need this for rectangles.

Can you rise a priority on this feature and release an early update with it?

In previous version of "Update Log" (month ago) this feauture was marked due to "May".
But now it is marked for "July"!

This is three more months and I can't wait that much!

I don't care about other upcoming feaures, except of export to Visio.

But, I really need a better scaling on each axis separetely.

Hi there :) it would be great to be able to add any image you want .. Example: say I want to put some text around the outside of an image of the earth or any other image it would be cool to have this feature as drawing various shapes is good for certain ideas, bur if your wanting your idea to be visual with a specific image and text then this would make this app even more amazing than it already is.
Thanks
