Help us make iDesk better !
iDesk started as a small project. Since the project started, the application has grown and now it has ten times more features. This is thanks to your support and constant feedback with awesome features suggestions. We decided to make a special place for your suggestions, add them here from the comment form and vote for the suggestions you like.
Please see the update log to see what we are planning for the next version and what we added in the versions before.

Thanks.
Thanks,
Rudy
Thank you for this incredible tool. Time and LIFE saver!
Thanks
The ability to import an image into the canvas would add to the profesionalism of the finished work.
Also being able to import an image or icon into an object connects ideas.
Just create an image with your logo and then choose the image as your canvas. It takes a few tries to get the right size, but it works perfectly for me.
Copying objects from one note to another would make templates more readily useful.
+1
I will get this if Visio gets supported!
Because it is attached as an image and an .idd file (both unrecognised formats), the corporate firewall blocks it. Once it is retrieved to my inbox, the attchment is recognised only as an "image file of unknown format" -- ie the system doesn't know it's a .png. File has to be saved, renamed and then "Open-withed" before it can be used.
I find this frustrating, my colleagues either can't manage to open it or can't be bothered.
here's what I am already lusting for in future revs.. The ability to select any object and resize it dynamically on the fly with a handle or similar. if this dynamic elasticity could apply not only to shapes but to the text inside, it would be a triple home run to me.
lacking that, just resizing shapes would be wonderful, especially if you could also (separetly) select any text and resize it manually with a tap on the alpha button.
Speaking of the alpha mode, one more piece of elasticity I would love: a slider to up and downsize the font size in lieu of the current steps by arrow thing.
Thanks for listening (and for asking) -- again adore this app!
signed, she who rarely bothers to post notes like this
Would benefit from some of Dabbleboard's features like resizing objects, grouping objects, creation of templates / reusable fragments etc.
Keep up the good work
1) ability to set up page size
2) print preview would be cool
3) greater control over sizing of objects possibly with function allowing manual size input
4) ability to line up selected objects, shapes: centered, left aligned etc...
Thanks
1) gmail docs compatibility
2) pictures, to include masking
3) gradients.
4) addition of custom colors and gradient styles
5) cut/copy/paste to copy between objects
6) text positioning inside of objects, like squares.
7) handles on lines for better control of length and position of end points
9) save and import shapes for reusability of complex objects, so you don't have to recreate them over and over and not work between multiple files/pages
10) add handles into any shape and the be able to move that handle in order to create more complicated objects. For example adding a handle into the middle of a line in order to be able to curve the line or add an angle into the line
11) add an angle curve tool that can be used on item #10 to create a curved line.
12) group multiple objects, not just selecting them.
1) when drawing rectangles, when they aren't done just right, I find myself doing them over and over to make them with 90 degree. Corners. Often they turn out With odd angles.
2) when clustering objects with snap to grid, the grid that objects snap to is inconsistent in spacing. Inevitably when moving the page around you slightly change the zoom level. Even when choosing say 100 percent zoom, the snap to grid is different and you get inconsistent results when trying to lineup a lot of boxes the same size.
3) I would recommend a home szoom button to ensure a place where snap to stays consistent when moving across the page. I know this can be difficult for vector objects.
Thanks for listening to me.
We've added a lot of your suggestions to our To-Do list.
It would be nice when pinch-sizing, adjustments right/left would make the object wider, top/bottom would be taller, and diagonal would scale with same proportions.
Perhaps couple this with a toggle box on the toolbar to switch between straight scaling and proportional adjustments would be best.
Please consider adding this capability to the next update since you are moving to version 2
Resize in single-direction( horizontal or vertical) will be also welcomed. Anyway, a nice app, Thanks
a) Text search
b) Line types (continuos, dotted, dashed)
c) Line color
great app!
1) Manual input for x, y position, width and height
2) Resize shapes by dragging individual sides
3) Right angled connectors
4) Snap to another shape on x, y axis
5) Ability to save shapes for future use
Thanks!
It needs a lot of time to change the font size, for example from 12 - 50 points. It would be great to have wheel or anything like list to change in bigger steps. not only + / -.
Thanks
Dennis (Germany)
Thank you so much for your support and awesome feature request.
We had included as many features as we could in iDesk 2 and now we are starting to work on a new update :)
Please ad this essential capability. The day it's added is the day I will gladly purchase it.
Few things to make it even better:
1. Persistent Style Preference: Currently, all styles, background, color are set to DEFAULT style. Even thou I had my preferred styles globally set at the beginning of the document, the preference revert to the default (i.e. line thickness, background, font etc..).
2. Default Style setting (at application level as well at document level)
3. Dropbox integration
4. Selective "multiple" selection. This allows me to select discrete shapes and move them. Current selection method is good, but this makes it better.
6. Quick move in "pen mode". Currently If I place my finger on a object in "pen mode", it draws the line as I drag. It would be good if the app can see this as a move "gesture". This will speed up moving in "pen mode" without have to "tap" to select and move.
Thanks. Keep up the good work. I love it!
Feature requests that comes to mind.
1) Grouping
2) "Containers" for things like Sub-Graphs (Could be solved by grouping but that would imply locking the elements and having to ungroup to edit)
3) PDF Export
Those are my early thoughts. Keep up the good work.
It would be invaluable to be able to save drawing in other formats to be opened using word programs and the like. That way my professors would be able to view my assignments when I upload them. .png works, but not always recognized when I try to find it to upload (I email it to myself then try to upload to BlackBoard program. If possible, PLEASE. I'm just beginning to learn this app and so far I don't see how I've been working without it. Thankbyou!
(I NEVER post requesting anything, but this time the app deserves feedback! ).
Same applies for resizing of an object.
would very useful if iDesk will get an wifi-presentation modus like those whiteboards have. So everyone on the intra-/internet can join the presentation by ip.
First, thanks for this great app.
In my opinion it would be great improving connection options.
And particulary adding the possibility to place freely the beginning or the end of the connection.
The possibility to import image or PDF file would be interesting.
And the the ability to export PDF would be a must.
Thanks you.
PS Sorry for my english, I'm a french !
Two suggestions:
#1 Can text placement in an object also include a vertical component so that a text label can be positioned at the top or bottom of an object rather than just in the middle?
#2 Rulers and Guidelines for "precise" positioning.
thanks
1. Add PDF output and make text selectable in PDF.
2. Allow users to output only the selected region instead of outputting the entire canvas.
3. When double tapping on canvas, it creates a text, but the text can only have rectangle stroke, it's much better if user can choose different shapes for text's stroke, e.g. Eclipse Triangle.
4. iDesk got iPhone and iPad versions already, it'll be awesome if there are PC and Mac versions.
5. Add support to iCloud.
I'll give u 5 stars if these features can be done.
Keep going on ur great work

Will iDesk ever be available for PC?
100% agree, I would love to see Library of shapes grouped by e.g. basic shapes, through to shapes supporting UML e.g. use case, activity diagrams etc..
2. Re-size from the sides as well as from the corners, e.g., the ability to make a box longer but not wider.
3. The ability to add pages or make the current page infinite in size.
It will be really awesome if one can edit the connections, meaning the path it takes. I am having difficulty in getting the arrows around other objects. The four basic types is not so flexible
Grouping objects together will also be a great functionality
So I would like:
1. A coarser "snap" grid, which remains consistent when zoomed, and to which the shape recognition snaps.
2. The ability to adjust the size of shapes in one direction at a time (e.g.. wider only or taller only).
3. The ability to group objects into a symbol. This was in MacDraw 25 years ago, so it's not rocket science.
Thanks!
Here are my observations from a usability perspective:
- Difficult to expand (pinch/zoom) small objects
- Need to be able convert a circle with text to a different shape
- Need to export object level editable file to PowerPoint and Visio
- Need library of pre-defined shapes
- Need full screen or Slideshow viewing option
- Need to be able to have multiple slides for a single presentation.
- Need a template library to include org chart, network diagram, etc
- The long touch gesture is awkward and slow to use for forward/back function which should be 4th corner object control.
This library should be editable by a user.
I'd like to have the ability to change size of shapes, tune connection stroke style and width, tune size of connection ends.
As well, it'll be greate to have the possibility to save styles as templates. There a lot of place at bottom, especially if you replace 2 buttons at the bottom of the screen with one toggle button.
Thank you for excellent app!
My suggestion is the ability to make connections after the shapes are made with the text inside them and with the colours set.
I simply cannot create a bunch of empty shapes connect them and write what they represent in the end. My work flow is the complete opposite of that so it would be nice to have the freedom to and the connections whenever we fell it's the time to add them.
Thank you for the consideration
I meant it would be nice to *add*
Thx
I really wish I could make a rectangle wider OR taller, without having to do both proportionally.
Wish it were easier to have clean branch-off connections that go around other objects, instead of having to be behind them. I find myself positioning objects in awkward ways to make cleaner connections possible. I'd like to be able to insert joints.
Thanks & regards,
veeresh
Also, if you could make also these objects in 3D.....
That would be perfect......
Nice app otherwise.
Hard drive shape
Document shapes
Decision Shapes
And, Nor, Etc...
If you could add different edges to the shapes it would be nice. Example... Zig zag, wavy, dotted, adinfintum....
Love this app, thank you!
2. Point editing for picture drawn with line may be good for refining picture drawn.
3. Editor in PC for either Windows or Mac OS mmay help further touch up of document.
I think it will be perfect, if adding the following feature.
1. Copy shape between diagram
2. Import pictures/images/self-make shape to the diagram
3. Group 2 or more shapes as a single object, so, those shape can be re-use.
4. Custom(import) background picture
5. Preset some simple shapes
6. if possible, export diagram to power point format(pptx)
Hope to see it in future updates. TQ
Anyone else experienced this issue? It's a shame because otherwise ti's a very good app and I loved using it.
Our goal to constantly add new functionality and improve our product sometimes doesn't left us with enough time for testing. There are 2 problems in iDesk 2.1 that we fixed and we are waiting for the version to pass review.
1.Application freezes on double tap to add text in iOS 4.2
2.Dropbox does not always succeed in creating a folder called iDesk (dropbox/iDesk)
We promise not to do it again. We are going to test more next time :)
Or would be better if we could create our own templates that are not docs themselves but can be accessed from a menu. As I am needing to make the same basic stuff...
It would be nice to put a link in one diagram that would have the title of the "linked to" and a ghost image of the other that fits within the area that I assign to it if I want.
2. Export as PDF to Dropbox
3. Group objects
Templates allows faster and much easier ceeation of more complex graphs.
I wish I had found this app before I bought Omnigraffle!!
first of all i woud like to thank u for a great app.
It s a verry usefull tool for creating diagrams and work flow sketches.
As an addition I woud reckonment THE function; add image to project.
This Combination of sketch , diagrams and images would make the presentation value even higher.
Thanks, I look forward to future updates.
Michel
Often I didn't want to be focused on properties of figures. I want to create diagram faster. But when I draw figures, it have different size and I have to correct it
Also, list it in education in itunes as a graphic organizer tool.
"Group",
"put to templates"
A little popupmenu for selecting the templates (and the possibility to store and load them... I think many people would share templates)
A filled and unfilled diamond for the arrow head ( UML Aggregation, Compositing ) would be nice
By the way, great work!
Also the resizing ability of objects (which looks like might be available in the next update) is a necessity.
Fullscreen would also be really useful.
One thing I'd like to see is a larger perhaps unlimited/very very large sheet to diagram on?
Cherrs
My request is to have scaling of shapes , vertical, horizontal individually.
I have a feature request: how about making the pen start from a point viewable. At the moment if I use my finger I can't actually see what I'm drawing as its under my finger. My suggestion: make a circle appear about one centermeter wide around where I place my finger and on that circle have a smaller circle to represent the pen tip, then this is where ink will come from. An edit mode would be good to rotate where the pen tip appears on the larger circle and also the size of the larger circle, incase the user wants to have a preferred location for the ink. I''m left handed so i would have the ink to come out on the right side of my finger...(hot idea?;-)
And few ideas about this wish list (if TTapps wish it to be the real instrument to get customers opinions, ideas and feedback):
1. Add sorting by date and by popularity (number of "good comments").
2. Ideas already done should be removed from the list (with every new release).

Sincerely, your customer
One of those who brings some $ to you ;)
But I feel very limited by the very limited number of association ends
Need basic UML association ends to be able to continue working with it!!!
a library of shapes, specifically for process flow diagramming.
Library of prebuilt backgrounds, such as"swim lanes"
Export to Visio
Export to Visio
Export to Visio
Export to visio
It would be really great to have this functionality.
Any updates on the new version?????
Please add a copy/ paste function so we can copy and paste parts of a document into another document,
Please also add the ability to group items so we can select multiple objects and move them all at once as well as be able to copy and paste the group into another document.
Being able to import images would be a bonus as well.
Thank you,
Sheree.
Regards,
Oliver
Quoting Felix Lee:
For this purpose I'd need a non IOS client, preferably PC, and a forum to share the document, perhaps a group on Yahoo or Google if not through ten touch directly. with hyperlinked multi page capeability from previous post this can be a very useful design tool
Thomas
In the settings Panel (properties) two Features:
I) Shapes like in Microsoft Word
II) Wizzard:
Like SmartArt in Microsoft Word

1. Larger image exports, My diagram currently exports to 2048x814 and its just not enough detail to be readable. I have to use PDF for now. SVG output would be great.
2. Multi select, maybe hold a finger on a shape and tap others to add and subtract selections.
3. Shape grouping, to then allow for moving a whole group of shapes.
Thanks and keep up the good work,
Dan
Just downloaded your app on my iPad2. I like it!
Here's an idea for a possible add-on to the app: it would be nice to have a tool, which has predefined shapes (boxes, circles, etc.), which can be drag & dropped into the project.
Fred
More like visio but simpler!
Also à simple layer handling to includewould be nice....
1) I would like to see text formatting in real time as you type. At the moment you have to guess how it will look and more often than not go back to change.
2) I would also like to see more background colour choices. Maybe the ability to choose a colour and a textur overlay. Another (or additional) way might be to use your own photo with the ability to tile it. At present a photo is static, and with am expanding canvass it will just end up in the top left corner looking rather forlorn. With the ability to coordinate the background the app will be one of the most beautiful too.
Look forward to the next two updates. Thanks for listening.
iDesk is a cool product. Keep up the good work.
My wish list:
1. Automatically allign shapes by group or by selection
2. Save/open to/from Dropbox
3. Integration with Evernote
4. Import new shapes
5. More shapes variety
Thanks,
JP
Connections betwen shapes not only from the center
I need to play with iDesk more to develop a comprehensive wish list, but what is apparent immediately, is a need to have the option to change the grid spacing, and to have the option to select a group of duplicate objects to automatically snap to the grid in alignment. I find the grid often too fine, and it is imprecise and inefficient to try to align duplicate objects manually one at a time.
Thanks.
Circles & Squares are not enough.
Great App!
Your website FAQ doesn't work, this is when viewing from an iPad so I'm not sure if it's broken server side or client side.
For example, I would make "Class Notes" set:
Font -> Helvetica Neue, 18
Canvas Size -> iPad
Stroke -> dark grey, 2
Connection -> 30% arc
Of course, I can do this already by creating a template file and just copying it—but what if I want to swap between custom settings within the same document? For example, say I've been drawing my class notes up, using "Class Notes" setting above. Then I need a title. I select "Casual Title", which swaps the Font to KOMIKA AXIS, 50. Once I've typed my title in, I select "Class Notes" and get back to work.
A few things would make it better. I would like a group function very much. For example. I made a button for a card design, a shaded circle with 2 black dots inside. While I could select all 3 elements to move the button, they don't stay "stuck" together, and once on my "card" can't be group selected again. I would like a way to stick them together as a group. Even more I would like the way to save an element like a button or flower shape so I could grab and place it on different diagrams. Finally I would like the choice to only widen or lengthen an object without it always being proportional.
1. Would like to be able to edit the vertices of an auto recognized shape. Ie, draw a star & then edit the points to make it more (or less) symmetrical. Likewise should be able to edit the aspect ratio of a rectangle, etc.
2. When doing a multiple object selection, should be able to tap on the objects I wish to select. Much more precise than using a selection rectangle.
3. Would like to be able to do a multi select and then group those objects so they behave as one.
Keep up the great work!
also pre defined shapes are better in quick drawing mode.
if possible, spread your app to android tablets(1280*800), PCs, Macs or even windows 8!
A user selectable grid size would be awesome.
I bought this software, but actually it is not usable for me without this very feature. I really need this for rectangles.
Can you rise a priority on this feature and release an early update with it?
In previous version of "Update Log" (month ago) this feauture was marked due to "May".
But now it is marked for "July"!
This is three more months and I can't wait that much!
I don't care about other upcoming feaures, except of export to Visio.
But, I really need a better scaling on each axis separetely.
Thanks
> Shape aspect ratio (2 axis) scaling - REALLY important for me - July? Please hurry
> Moving horizontal and vertical guides with adjustable tick mark spacing (ie like a ruler)
Thanks
